Supreme Court Made Landmark Decisions This Past Week

The Supreme Court made landmark decisions on Friday June 30th, 2023 regarding student loan forgiveness, LGBTQ rights and affirmative action. On the issue regarding LGBTQ rights, the Supreme Court decided in favor of a Christian web developer who declined to create websites celebrating same-sex weddings. The court decided that Lorie Smith’s free speech was protected by the First Amendment and she has to right refuse service to same-sex weddings. The Supreme Court also decided to end affirmative action admission requirements for colleges and universities. To top it off, the Supreme Court blocked the Biden adminstration’s student loan forgiveness plan that would have delivered $20,000 of relief to borrowers in debt.

Ciroc’s Parent Company Diageo Parts Ways With Diddy

After being accused of racism and being slammed with a lawsuit by Sean “Diddy” Combs, liquor manufactuer Diageo has severed ties with the hip hop mogul. Diageo has worked with Diddy on brands such as Ciroc and Deleon. Diddy feels like this move is equivalent to a whistle blower being fired for point out racism that occurs at their company. We will stay tuned to see if this move means the end for Ciroc and Deleon indefinetely.
